02 Jun Accessible Tethered Rides At The National Star College
Exclusive Ballooning were on site at The National Star College in Cheltenham today with our Renishaw hot air balloon to support FestABLE; The UK’s first National Festival of Specialist Learning, created to look for solutions facing young people with disabilities.
The National Star College is an independent specialist further education college for people with physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries and associated learning difficulties.
G-RENI, as the balloon is affectionately known, has a bespoke adapted wheelchair accessible basket, allowing those with disabilities, mobility needs or in a wheelchair to fly in the balloon. Renishaw has generously sponsored the balloon for the last five years and you can regularly see the balloon flying over the Gloucestershire area in the summer months.
The balloon was tethering for five hours while on site and provided rides to all those who were attending the festival.
G-RENI is also special for not only having the unique accessible basket but he also has his very own Twitter account and you can follow his adventures on @GRENI_BALLOON
